The all-time winningest head coach in Fairfield women’s soccer history, Jim O’ Brien completed his tenth season at the reigns of the Stags. During his campaign, the Stags have won two MAAC Championship and have played in the Championship game four times. O’Brien has coached the league’s Defensive Player of the Year four times including three-straight from 2011-13. Fairfield has been a fixture in the classroom during O’Brien’s ten seasons, with his squad earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award seven times during those seasons.  In total, 48 Stags have been named to the conference’s All-Academic team with one student-athlete being selected to the NSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-American team. The 2008 squad set a program record with 15 victories and was one of two O’Brien coached squads to finish in the top-75 in the nation in RPI rankings. Fairfield developed one of the best home stretches in program history during the 2013-15 seasons, recording a 20-game unbeaten streak on Lessing Field, which was one game shy of ranking in the top-25 in NCAA history. During his career O’Brien has won 210 games on the collegiate level, including starting the women’s soccer program at his alma mater, Southern Connecticut State University.
